About Caila
Caila has enjoyed working in the architectural industry for many years, taking on a variety of projects.
Her experience ranges from residential renovations & as-built drawings, to new builds & drafting for
large scale commercial projects. While her passion largely resides in the design process, she prides herself
in being an attentive and detail oriented drafter as well.
Caila entered the architectural industry as a drafter while still in highschool. Upon graduating, she attended
the British Columbia Institute of Technology to attain a Diploma in the Architectural Building & Engineering
Technology Program. She continued working as a drafter while completing her studies, and after finishing the
program, went on to work as a lead designer for a company based out of Port Coquitlam, and later
doing design & drafting work with Architects & Designers throughout the lower mainland.
Caila now resides in North Vancouver BC, and enjoys keeping busy with projects around the lower mainland,
and throughout BC. For samples of her work or questions about pricing please view the contact information at

The first step in any project is typically an initial meeting. This is the best way for both the client as well as the designer to get to know each other, and for the client to explain in detail what their vision of the project is. This is important for the designer when putting together an accurate quote & providing an estimated project timeline.
Once there's been an initial meeting, the designer will come out to the existing residence (if the project is a renovation) and take thorough measurements to put together an accurate set of floor plans. If the project is a new build, the designer will jump in on a variety of design options to present to the client, which will be reviewed with adjustments made as necessary. The presentation usually includes a virtual 3D walk-through of the designs so that the Client can accurately visualize & understand how the project will come together. The main goal of this step is finding a design that is both functional, and suits the client's taste.
Finally, the designer puts together a set of Architectural Drawings for the client. The client can then use the Architectural Drawings to apply for a building permit, as well as to obtain quotes from other professionals (Structural Engineers, Builders etc).
